         Are you over 70?  Have you been taking "Required Minimum Distributions" every year from your IRA or 401(k)? Have your accounts gone down a lot in the past year?          

       You may NOT have to take a distribution from your IRA or 401(k) in 2009 if you don't want to (in other words, you don't have to sell anything that has lost a lot of value if you think it's better to wait until it goes back up.)

           If your IRA or 401(k) trustee hasn't contacted you yet, you should contact them to discuss this with them.
